In what is sure to bring comfort to the citizens of Alabama the owner of a local lounge in Northport was arrested this past week on gambling charges.

After a month long investigation police there arrested the owner of the lounge for running an illegal poker game. The charges were so serious that the owner had to post a whopping $1200 in bail. The Northport Police receive their funding from state taxpayers and many residents expressed concern as to whether this is the type of major crime that this money is intended to combat.

Ah, it is wonderful to be served and protected by those that are sworn to uphold the law, Isn't it?

In Virginia, it was ruled about 8 yrs ago that
poker was not illegal to have home games or tournaments as long
as the host or host was not making money from holding the event, like a cut.

So maybe this lounge owner was taking 10% or something, therefore making it illegal?
