It was thought by many of the so-called experts that the current economic downturn would have a negative effect on the WSOP Main Event this year.

They couldn't have been more wrong. As it is there were more than 2 hundred players turned away from the event becuase it was full. These players are left searching for alternate tournamnets to play in because they have already invested the time and money to get to the event.

Out of the nearly 6,500 players that are in attendance at the event this year 648 will share in a prize pool of over $10 million dollars with 1st place being worth over $8.5 million.

    So much for economic downturn.
