Has anyone else noticed that more and more frequently the online casinos and gambling websites are now using the word gaming instead of gambling?

This appears to be a new trend as it was not that long ago that this started to occur.

I even got an e-mail from a microgaming casino telling me about their new multigame play option and saying " Become a Pro GAMER now". Huh?

Really take a look around, more and more you will see they now use words like, gaming, igaming, or gamer.

I am used to the word gambling.

A gambler is not the same as a gamer to me.

Gaming was always more to play pc games where you do not have to risk money,
or to play games on your x-box or playstation. This is what the word "Gaming" meant to me.

A Gambler is someone who risks something to win something, aren't they?

Now are we all gamers instead of gamblers?

I wonder why so many now try to get away from the word gambling, this really seems to be the new trend, and especially the word igaming which seems to be front runner at the moment.

Well, I think I will remain a gambler, lol

What do you think?

Is "Gaming" the same as "Gambling"?

Good observation Marina, I couldn't have expressed it better myself. I agree with you the word "Gaming" to me is like playing on an xbox, Wii, or one of those consoles. Gambling involves risking money with the hope of winning a larger amount of money.

It would probably be a lot less expensive for me if I were a "Gamer" instead of a "Gambler".

:thank you:

I've never noticed that, i guess i'm both a gamer and gambler. When i let loose
on the PS3(best thing ever) i consider it gaming but in the casinos most defenitely gambler(i love more than my ps3).

I AM A GAMBLER AND I SAY IT PROUD!!!

Mark always says when I playing a bit "Ellis are you Gaming"? He does not like
this word Gambling, lol.....Its Gambling and It will always be Gambling to me. For others this can maybe be heavy weighted word and is Gaming more chique.

I think there is a psychological thinking behind it, if u understand what I mean.

But I find also that Gaming, is when I play games on my X-box or PC. Thank you for this interesting treat Marina. I'm really curious what others have to say....

You got a very good point there Ellis!
Yeah, maybe then a person who love to gamble,
risking money to win money , does not feel so bad, because it is "GAMING" ?
Because there are many fingers pointing on you if you gamble,
you are a gambler - and gambling is bad ?

Well, its not that big of a deal, gambler vs. gamer yes a big deal. I agree with you guys about what they are, but i thinkt he reason you might start seeing these websites popping up is because of the word gaming.

in America, its not the gambling commision, its the gaming commision. It has been like this for all i can remember. The gaming commision is for gambling.

Makes no sense, but this is what it is.

I think peeps launching new websites decided to try and use gaming because gambling websites are so saturated.

Just my opinion.

And I second that, I say it proud, I am a gambler, love to gamble! No risk, no fun!

Still, to all those who really think that they are having a gambling addiction, please, take some time to read through some advices.
If you really feel gambling does hurt you, your life, your family, you should get help and there is no reason to feel ashamed about it.

Gambling can be addictive, no doubt, it always depends on the person and/or the situation and more.

Just do me one favour, dont think you are bad, dont think you do something wrong if you gamble, try to keep it under control - i.e.:
How much money do you have?
How much money do you need to pay your bills?
Can you cover all? Great!

Now is there money left this month and you love to gamble?

Yes? Then ok, why not risk it - why not make a gamble?
You could buy a state lottery ticket - wait, what are the chances to be a winner?, lol
You could risk i.e. 50 bucks at an online casino, and wow ,
this i a nice casino - recommended by some well known gambling websites,
and the best is this casino gives you even a 100% bonus to your deposit.
Well why not, it is entertainment, it is thrill, it is hope, it is just sit down and relax ...

And now listen, I am a gambler myself and Mike is too!
We would not run Bonus Paradise if we would not love to gamble.
We love to win and we hate to loose, sometimes if we loose we blame it on all and everything, this is how it goes.

What I want to say is, there is NO problem being a gambler!
All you need to do is , 1st admit to yourself and control it.

If you have a loosing streak then admit it and give it up.
If you find yourself borrowing money and telling lies for what you need it, well then take yourself in the bathroom in front of your mirror and ask yourself some questions.

Thanks Git, yeah agree, gaming anoynymous sound odd, haha

but ja, fact is, that the "normal gaming" is also very addictive,
I heard from kids sitting on the pc 20 hours per day. Ok the do not risk money like a gambler does, but they do spend their time, risk their real friendshieps, their school grades ....

Somehow I even believe the "gaming industry" - not gambling, i mean now really gaming with pc games or PS3, Xbox and whatever does make more money.
And the bad thing is, they make it mostly with teenagers.

This is just my opinon, please everyone feel free to post theirs.

Is "Gaming" the same as "Gambling"?

I say no way and agree with Marina (and others).Gaming is xbox etc and gambling is online/B&M casino involving money.

If you called a "Gamer" a "Gambler" they would say.........what? (possibly followed by dude)

Same diff as calling a Gambler a Gamer.

If it looks like a Duck and walks like a Duck.It a Duck.............

Yeah, well I'm guessing the idea behind this is to get more people to try gambling by using a word that's a bit lighter than the word... gambling.

Everyone knows that gambling can get some people into a lot of trouble when it takes control, so I think it's just another clever scheme to get more people to put their money into online casinos.

Just my two hunder million cents.

I would love to Know if there are people with a different thought about this.
I mean its such an Interesting Topic to talk about!

So what you think? Is Gaming Gambling, and is a Gamer a Gambler !?

I am refreshing this topic.

More and more internet casinos using the word "gaming".

I still say gaming is not the same as gambling.
Why do they not want to use the word gambling?

I agree.. I feel that gamers are someone that likes to play games such as Warcraft, Xbox etc. A gambler is one that gambles.

I think I would have better luck with the PS3 at winning (if it was possible) then I do gambling. If only it was that easy to win like I do when I play my video games. I am very surprised that they haven't tied the two together. Then again maybe it is out there and i just haven't come across it. :) I think they want to change the look of casinos to make them more appealing to the age of today. The term gamer is more cool haha Whatever, as long as I am winning :)
