I was thinking of updating my son to the new iPhone 5s for Christmas.

Was wondering if any of you out there have it yet and how do you like it.

He currently has the iPhone 4 and really I can't see much of a difference.

This is very very subjective opinion and feel free not to agree with me :D

It purely depends on how old is your son. I would recommend iProducts to those who are quite mature and that piece of device is serving purely for its purposes. It's basically for those who need access to their emails and important conversations on an 'on the go' basis: if you are a businessman or you run a website where instant reply is a priority for you and is part of your everyday job.

Lately I am paying attention to people in coffee shops - 2 friends decide to go have a cup of coffee together, they go in and the first immediate question is "what is the password for the wifi" :) They sit together but thir mind and attention is on to surf on the web. I understand that this is sort of trend recently but trust me the word real friend or real friendship is getting weak and weak each day.
I think schools nowadays should have a subject "how to manage your day-to-day activities depending on what gadget you hold" coz web seems to overtaking everything (I'm talking about the valuable time of your life).

I reckon that a kid should spend a lot more time playing and physically socialising rather than playing on fluffy gadgets and socialise on the web -without real mimics and real senses. I'm sure you'll agree with me on this that when you type loooooool or hahaha your face mimics does not change at all.

In 2009 or 10 I bought my phone and at that time the phone I had was really wow. It was Nokia N900, the first phone to run purely on Linux. Then I caught myself on diving into the phone every freakin' minute and I'm serious I physically was not talking to people for days. At that time that very Nokia was a lot better than its main rival iPhone 3g but later on Nokia stopped the support of that phone and I'm really happy for that coz that device now, for me, serves as a pure remote telephone and that's it :) and I intentionally do not change my phone :D And here comes the GENIOUS motto of Nokia - Connecting People. Now it does :D

Anyway, I'd suggest you to spend that money to increase the physical activity of your kid - and it will keep the personal ego very levelled and controlled as well. Trust me he won't like it at first but eventually he will understand that it was for his benefit. Now if your kid asks a question about your youth I believe you have books of stories to tell - but in future I think it will be like "dad tell me about your youth years - Ummm I was on the web, I met this girl on the web, I won best footballer title on a video game". I agree I may exaggerate a bit but the meaning of what I say is pretty much the true reflection of current trends in the very near future.

OK I think I wrote too much :D :D Anyway, I think I've made my point clear and again this is very subjective opinion.

Great response AfelG. I can see how kids these days spend more time on devices and being nonsocial than being out and about.

Fortunately my son is very active. Yes, he likes his XBox and iPhone, but he also enjoys fishing, canoeing, hunting, baseball and many more active activities. He's a pretty responsible and sensible 17 yr old and I am thankful everyday. Graduating high school this year with honors, so I am quite proud. And, since the 2nd grade, has played the violin. Last Christmas concert for us is this Sunday. Hope I can record it and post. They play beautiful.

My best friend sons has Iphone 5s. He is happy like all apple addicted kids are. I don't see any big difference, just see fingerprint thing.

I agree to AfelG about the thing with people just sitting with their phones, but I know that your son is really active.
