In Russia, a crackdown continues on landbased casinos.

The Russian government has decided that the reputation of the casinos has gotten so bad that much more intense regulation is required.

In an effort to implement this regulation the casinos are now being forced to operate in certain areas of the country designated by the government. It is believed that over 100,000 people will lose their jobs because of this decision but the government is standing firm in its' decision.

And the casinos do not feel as if it will be economically feasible for them to operate in the areas desiganted by the government.

These new regulations go into effect on Wednesday and it will be interesting to see what affect this has on the Russian economy which is currently suffering from a serious downturn.
