Here's an article from our local news channel in NH, USA

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- A New Hampshire couple in their 70s who are living in a car are worried as winter draws closer.

Beverly Maguire, 71, and Roger Maguire, 78, have been living in their small, four-door car for eight months.

Beverly is handicapped and confined to a wheelchair after complications from knee replacement surgery. Her husband also has health issues and is unable to lift Beverly.

The couple have spent the past 20 years living in a motor home and camper between Florida and New Hampshire's Seacoast. But they permanently relocated in April to Portsmouth, where they feel they can get the best care, and left the motor home and camper in storage in Florida.

Since then, the Maguires have been unable to find temporary housing Beverly can access with her wheelchair.

This makes me so sick!!

This is one of the special thing which make me very very sad .

Especially for Christmas I get sad about this. When I go into town and I see the crazy ones shopping likes never before with millions of bags in their hand... I get angry.....just a commercial thing....nothing about love peace and harmony....

If I MUST join the city in this time, I look around for all the homeless people here. Sitting in any corners....like the song "Streets of London".... I give money to them if I have...for buying a coffee or any other warm drink....

For me this world is to selfish....like here in Germany.....WE spent for every country and everything millions of Euros......"saving any fish in detah sea" or whatever.....but why we not help our people on the road?? There are so many homeless....and homeless children....

for me this world is getting unreal and if I read your posting about this poor couple I get angry about this world....better to log out now....

:sad::sad::sad:

Well said Ardilla! It is sickening the way people treat our "brothers"
I wish more people would see what REALLY matters......

Love those you can, and those you can't, pray for......
Always holding my heart in my hand, Patti

This makes me so very sad....
Ardilla, I could not say it better..

One positive thing about this. Many will read and this
couple should be helped.

I'll keep everyone update. Because I'm ready to
give up my Christmas to make sure
they have a bed to sleep in.

Freaking USA

Yes I have often wondered why we send million overseas in the feed the children when we have so many starving right here in our own back yards!
I think this country needs to ensure it's own peoples warefare before worrying about others! No offense to any country in need but where is our governments logic in this?

And where is governments logic to spend billions of $$$`s to attack other nations with war and let their own people suffer from hunger and cold?

Actually better than half the things they call war were things the USA had no business getting involved in to begin with!
There is nothing you can say about the US Government that would come even close to offending me.
But unfortunately other countries do not have as lenient policies for citizenship or I would have left this country long ago!

Kotsy,
If you can find any contact info for this couple it would be really helpful !
I have 2 bands in the New england area that are willing to do a fund raising concert to collect funds to revamp a place to accomodate the chair!

Some of us (a very small few) don't just stand on the wayside and complain about things we don't like, we actually jump in armed for battle and don't stop till there is change!
I welcome the friendship of any such like minded people!

Sounds like your country is as bad as the UK Kotsey. There are thousands of homeless folks here sleeping rough, while our benefits system provides homes and benfits for tens of thousands of immigrants who come here to freeload of the state. They also plough millions of pounds into the European Union for which we get nothing back from, apart from being told what to do by Brussels. And of course there's the illegal wars all over the globe which our soldiers get roped into. Sounds like the world is in a sorry state at present and I cannot see any way back....merry xmas? .....maybe for the millionaires and billionaires of this very unfair and one -sided civilization and the people who control our sad lives

I really feel for those elderly folks, i really wish i was in a position to help them, instead i'm in the position of ending up like them or worse! But even though i love my country, the politics and politicians have completely ruined this place. My family fled their tiny little island homeland because of communism and they raced here to the good ol USA,then made themselves citizens and bothered to learn the language (imagine that)' the sad part is this country is nowhere near what it once was and the people have become very selfish and rude and all around ******* idiots, i'm sorry for cursing but that is how i feel about 95% of the planet. I really wish our society still respected senior citizens and veterans, and didn't just throw them to the wayside when we didn't need them anymore.

Folks, I've been sick and in bed last few days, so really haven't had
the energy to post. I'll update on this in the next few days.

It gets real interesting.

I hope to read anything about them, but I believe them will be helped after this publicity.

I still hope that other ones will be helped, too.

Last days I must go into town through this big christmas market.....and I did it again. The friend looked at me and smiled and nearly cried because of giving the poor homeless ones. He started the same. We just took one drink because of really cold. The money for the other drinks we gave to poor ones. I can have a hot coffee at home, they don't have a home.
