Sooooooooooooooooo..... You look down and there they are; AA as you’re starting hand. According to the odds you will win 80% of the time. Well, I'm here to say pocket Aces owe me some wins! Sunday night I got beat 5 times holding pocket AA; a Flush, 2 pair, trips, a straight and a full house.

The reason I'm writing this is to remind us all that while AA is a great hand you still have to play it correctly. It certainly CAN and WILL be beat, particularly these days when so many players stay in with Flush and straight draws.

Good luck at the tables.

you're absolutely right....dont forget to count for the donkey bets too!! i've had better success slow playing my pocket AA's lately than I have being aggressive...you are able to slip up on them, they never see you comin, esp. when they're playing a dirty ace :)

AA is the best hand preflop but if you don't get the 3rd A is just a pair and have a lot chances to lose with AA.AA preflop don't make you winner.

I have lost so many times with AA or AAA it isn't even funny. :( It's so sad when someone calls you with a bad hand and beats you.

Ive lost with AA several times, and most of them was against a flush i hate when it happens, thats the problem when you play a freeroll, the players are not affraid to gamble tiny hands and win or loose, in cash games and live tournaments they dont do that for sure

I've had bad runs on AA, but good ones too. But especially in a tournament with low blinds I'd call with a bit of a rag hand and try to get a monster flop, because most players never can let go of AA, making the implied pot odds huge.

Not sure, but seems like when I flop a set with AA I don't get paid off as well as I'd expect. Probably because the Ace is a scare card, assuming my opponent doesn't hold the last one in the deck.

I suspect anyone who has played a decent amount of poker has run into streaks where their AA hands get cracked more often than the math would indicate. That's the nature of variance. The flip side is that other streaks happen where you win more than the stats suggest. What I suspect happens is that people don't notice when they win say 10 or 15 times in a row because they expect to win each time and simply don't keep track to know they've been on a positive variance streak.

I ever lost 7 times consecutive AA in my life... both live/online. I'm not a pros but by playing like 70,000 hands both tournament and live... I think the best way to play AA is play with caution. Just play it like when u hit pairs for A with AK... don't play big pot unless the board is really no draw and you have a read on guy that have weak pairs like KK or top pairs K with good kicker.. and learn how to fold when face a large bet with really bad river card and don't sure about it...

You are very right crazybear ! Yesterday I just lost all money in one hand with AA, going all in AA vs A4 ... can you believe it or not, the flop was 2, 3 ,5 so that other guy hit a straight and I have been shocked for a few seconds... but thats poker, very risky!
