I´m just new to poker and playing mostly freerolls to learn the game and improve my play. I noticed that many players always bet "all in". It sux really and I would like to know why they do so? Makes no sense to me to risk all...

I think some are going All In as a tactic
to scare the others,
then the others pass and they get the pot, lol
but to do so is sure risky and does not work always
You maybe can scare away some new players
but I see there are many really gook poker players out there
so, you cant just easy bluff all, lol

this is just my thougt about
I am not a poker player too, lol

Dmoney and others, please let us know your opinions to that

thanks

I know exactly what Seaman is saying. The way that they go allin is not really a tactic, but just plain stupidity and total disregard for the game of poker.

Notice, he said he plays mostly freerolls, this is the best place to find all the "Donks" in one spot. They Go allin to try to get a quick head start with any 2 cards and they really don't care if they win or lose, because its a freeroll.

The worst thing is to play a real money game that you bought into and find a donk that has money, and doesn't care if he wins or loses.

The Best Defense for this is to sit and Play very tight in the beginning, and try to set traps against these players when they don't go allin, but ae involved in a pot.

Only Play Premium Hands in the beginning of tournaments like AA ,KK,QQ,AK,AQ,JJ For An Allin Hand. If Someone Goes Allin, And You Don't Have One Of These Hands, Its Not Worth Risking Your Tournament Life Against These Idiots That Go Allin Every Other Hand.

And One Rule Of Thumb I've Realized Over The Last Couple Years Online, Is This:

NO MATTER WHERE YOU PLAY, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A TON OF DONKS.

You Just Have To Learn To Play Around Them.

Now, Playing Only Premium Hands Early In A Tournament is only a stratagy, and it will not always work, as any and can win at any time. But, These Hands Will Give You The Best Odds At Winning Them.

Also, Try To Play Pots When These Guys Fold, And Try And Get Lucky To Win A Few Pots Without Worrying About Your Tournament Life At Risk.

As Far As These Allin Donks Go, There Really Is No Rhyme Or Reason For Their Play, Except That Most Of Them Play In Freerolls, Try To Get An Early Chiplead Because the Can't Play A Competitive Game Of Poker, And Don't Care If They Lose Because It Costed Nothing For them To Get In.

Hope These Words Help You Understand A Little Bit About These "Allin Donks".

I'm Hoping To Set Up A Weekly Game For Free Real Soon, so that People Who Are Trying To Learn To Play, Can Play A Friendly Game With Members Of BP, And Have Fun While Learning In A Real Game Atmosphere.

Dmoney, thank you very much for explaining this to us and for your hints. It helps a lot for us beginners to get some input to understand the entire poker thing. I must say, after one week playing, I really like it and I will definitly continue.

NO MATTER WHERE YOU PLAY, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A TON OF DONKS.

Well...this lesson I have already learned..LMAOO!

Glad To Be A Help Seaman, As Yes, Anyone Will Find This Statement To Be All So True! roflmao

But Playing Online, You Get Used To These Players, The River Bad Beats, And Some Just Plain Out Right Stupidity The Way Some People Play. But, As I Also Say,

EVERYONE HAS TO LEARN TO PLAY AT SOME TIME AND SOME PLACE, SO I SHOULDN'T BE SO HARSH ON SOME OF THE POKER PLAY I SEE AT TIMES.

I Get Frustrated At times, But There Really Is No Wrong Or Right Way To Play, And Supposedly, The Law Of Averages Will eventually Work Out In Your Favor. There Are Lots Of Ups And Downs With Playing Poker.

Just Have To Learn To Minimumize The Downs At Times. Glad You Have Enjoyed My Postings About Poker, And There Will Be Lots More Games And Tips On the Way!

"Quick Tip"

Don't Let The Bad Play Or Bad Beats Linger Too Long. Forget About them As Quickly As They Happen, And Also Don't Play Poker For Money Tired! rof :D

Freerolls and the lower entry fee tournaments you always see this "all in" stuff. Before this holdem became what i call Tv game people played smarter.I dont think you would of seen Dole Brunson going all in with 2 7 off suit.lol But if your good and want a smart game the higher entry tournaments are the ones to play.

Just a input.. In the world of poker Doyle Brunsons has a hand called up after him.. 2 10 so you never know.. He won the WSOP title in both -76 & -77 with the hand 2 10..

and in 2005 he won his 10th bracelet with 3 10....

So True My Friend, And I Remember When He Won That Bracelet With 10 3 Offsuit.

He Admitted Later, That He Thought That It Was 10-2 , But Had Just Seened The 2 Wrong! :D

Also, To Be Quite Honest, You Never Know What Someone Is Playing Unless You Seen Him All The Way To A Showdown. Alot Of Hands, They Guy May Have Been Playing The Player, The Ones He Knows He Can Bluff A Pot At Times With Nothing, Or Set One Up With A Bluff After The Flop Or Turn, Knowing If The Other Player Didn't Hit Part Of The Hand, He Would Fold.

Its Not Always About The Cards, Alot Has To Do With Reading And Playing The Players At The Other Tables, Knowing Who You Can And Can't Bluff.

Yes i agree with you there Dmoney. But very tough to read most people online when there all in crazy.I dont play much in the same tournaments anymore i go for the bigger ones.

Yes, This Is Also True. This Is What I Like About Playing Private Buyin Games With Members Of A Forum. It's Just Like Playing A Home Game With Friends That You Play With Every Week. You Tend To Learn How Certain Members Play, And You Can Play Your Game Accordingly.

When You Are Always Against New Players All the Time It Does Make It Tough. But Not Impossible. At Least Some Of The Time. The Ones That Go Allin, I Like To Wait For A Monster Hand, Slow Play It, Set that Trap, And Hope Luck Is On My Side, When These Guys Go Allin.

I Would Love To See Everyone Get More Involved With Our Buyin Games, Then We Could Also, Have More Money Added To Prizepools, Build Up A Nice League, And Have A Place For Our Great Members To Enjoy Poker, And Not Always Have To Worry About The Complete Donkeys That Like To Play Bingo Rather Than Poker.

Maybe We'll Get More Participation Soon, From Our Fellow Poker Players?

there know as donkys ..you get lots of them that play online ...one reason if if they have ace high they go all in caues just what they do ..and maybe caues it a freeroll they dont care caues it free ... i hate going all in .. i like to see a flop and try to bet my oppontent off there hand and you have a better chance at winning

Yes, The Dreaded Donkies That Are
Never-ending When playing online. I think the reason for this is that for 1, it usually is free or very small risk for them and they do not care, also, alot of beginning players start out online, so they really haven't developed a real poker game, not really knowing any better.
From watching the pro's move allin on t.v., they think this allin move will make people fold everytime and when people don't fold, everyone see's the donks bluff with 74 offsuit, and its just their luck, they seem to catch their hand. Also, The annonomity of playing online, where no one knows who you are, people tend to be the donk just for fun for them. i have done this before, when its too late to really play a 5 hour tournament, i just play stupidly to try and lose my chips. hehe{but i usuallly don't do this]. This is why i think there is so many donks in the online world.

poker rules

I agree. Also, even experienced players make the Donkey Call sometimes because the embarassment when you lose online isn't there like it is at a live table. Try Poker Stars freerolls sometime. It is soooo bad. You will LOL, right before a donk sucks out on you.
