Celtic action comes to the reels of a brand new online casino slot game by Microgaming, planned for a December 2017 rollout. Once more, the Isle of Man online casino software provider
has tapped into a popular franchise and signed a deal that will see the release of an exciting new slot game. This time around, Microgaming signed a deal with Studiocanal, with the agreement
brokered by Creative Licensing Corporation, to create a slot game based on the Highlander franchise.

For those not yet in the know, Highlander was a movie first released in 1986, with the screenplay based on the story written by Gregory Widen. The storyline takes viewers
on an imaginative journey between the Scottish Highlands and New York City of the 80s as the immortal swordsmen, Connor MacLeod fights his final battle to obtain the prize at the end.

The movie became a cult hit and is still well known nearly 30 years later. Microgaming wanted to revive the excitement of Highlander and therefore opted to create a brand new video slot game
based on the film. The good news is that players won’t have to wait too long to play the new Highlander slot and the 243 ways slot game will go live at partner casinos on Wednesday, December 6th.

So what can we expect to find on the reels of the new Highlander video slot?

For one, Microgaming has stopped at nothing to incorporate some of the best scenes and images from the original movie.
As such, there is an almost seamless move between the movie and the new game.

“Many of the iconic characters from classic 'Highlander' are featured in the slot, including Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, Roxanne Hart as Brenda Wyatt
and Clancy Brown as The Kurgan,” said Stephanie Kupperman, a spokesperson for Creative Licensing. “We think fans are really going to enjoy revisiting this epic story,
and seeing their favorite heroes and villains in game format."

David Reynolds, the acting games publisher for Microgaming had only good things to say about the Highlander franchise, calling it “one of the great cult hits of the eighties.”

“With its action packed storyline and hefty rock inspired composition, it is a fantastic brand for an online slot,” he said.

About the Highlander Brand

The British-American action fantasy movie, Highlander was directed by Russell Mulcahy and starred actors such as Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery.
Released to the big screens by 20th Century Fox in March 1986, Highlander wasn’t a huge success revenue-wise. Nevertheless, the movie went on to become
a cult film and was the catapult for Lambert’s success as an actor. Highlander developed such a name for itself in the industry, that it also inspired TV spin-offs and a film sequel.
