"The fun of revenue-producing online poker, now illegal in the U.S., is being replaced by web-based horse race gaming."

Players Network is yet another US company taking advantage of exemptions in federal law that allow betting over the Internet on hrose races. The company this week announced that it will be offering legalised horse race wagering over its new, three channel internet website.

Players globally can watch horse races throughout the United States on Players Network's site using live streaming video simulcasts and can instantly wager on races taking place at over 40 racetracks throughout the United States.

The gambling company is creating a major commercial promotional campaign, leveraging its Vegas on Demand Channel in the United States, and additional networks throughout the globe to quickly appeal to both domestic and international gamblers, building a large, loyal customer base. The company will also directly target gaming enthusiasts in its existing 3.2 million customer database, using an aggressive promotional campaign consisting of hard mailers and email based marketing.

According to Mark Bradley, CEO of Players Network Inc., "Our network has the unique ability to reach over 141 million homes and hotel rooms globally. With the launch of our new website, coupled with aggressive advertising across all media platforms, Horse Race enthusiasts will know that Players Network is the place to watch and wager on horses at tracks throughout the United States 24 hours a day, seven days a week from the comfort of their own home."

Players Network is betting that its unique streaming video internet simulcast and instant off track wagering will help fill the void felt by online poker players.

According to Bradley, "The fun of revenue-producing online poker, now illegal in the U.S., is being replaced by web-based horse race gaming."

And with global video marketing, Players Network is uniquely poised to capture that market, he boasts.

Well good for them, looks like they are going to see only good things in their future. Hopefully this might be a step towards getting online poker legalized.:socool:

here in Belgium and the Netherlands the game has become also very popular, and politcs wants now stricter rules. They also want their rake I think :)

I don't mean to go off on a rant here, but I have had an experience with the US government and a game site that was not even Poker. The site is called Worldwinner and it has games like Scrabble, Bejeweled and some card games like solitaire, hearts. My beef is just this; I AM Canadian and I am not a US tax-payer. But, in order to play for money on this site you have to sign a form stating that it is okay for the game site to take taxes from your winnings in order to play for cash. So for instance the game you play costs $0.75 to enter the game site takes 30% right off the top and if you win the US government takes 30% of your winnings. So even though I was winning approximately 75% of my games I never got ahead. Between the entry fees and the taxes it ate up all the money I deposited to that site. I played over 100 games and by the time my $20 ran out I had paid more than $12 in taxes. That is the reason why they have banned the Poker sites because they will not agree to collect the taxes from the players winnings. As I see it good for the Poker sites, they should not have such an imposition placed upon them, and it also is unfair to the players to have to give up their winnings before they have even made any real money. They do not deduct from the tax collected if you lose, so it works out to if you lose you lose and if you win you lose. If somebody makes enough over the year to actually be considered an income well that would be when and only when they are actually able to make a claim for taxes on the winnings.

Wow Krown. That's the first time I have heard of a "gaming" site and taxes.
Interesting you had to sign a form. Off to research now.

So I'm assuming Worldwinner is based in USA and is incorporated as a legit business. Need to look into this more.

Thanks for the info

Wow, governed by the State of Massachusetts in USA. I work in this state and they sure go after taxes on everything.
