One of the currently most prestigious awards ceremonies, the Southern European Gaming Awards, took place on the 8th of November, and our beloved NetEnt was shortlisted and then won three awards for its accomplishments in 2019.
NetEnt was crowned Best Support for Responsible Gambling, Best Live Casino Provider and Best Online Casino Provider at the ceremony in Milan.
The European Gaming Congress organized the conference which was dedicated to software developers, regulators, testing laboratories, gaming operators, government officials and industry-connected providers.
The Congress is actually specifically designed to bring together experts in the industry to discuss issues they’re facing and gathers +125 peers, C-level executives. The topics for this year’s event were focused on Malta and Italy, outsourcing, Big Data, AI, Benelux market update, highlights from south-west Europe, D-A-CH regional updates and marketing for operators in regulated markets. Southern European Gaming Awards was part of the Congress, which aimed to give recognition to B2C and B2B providers, the second year in a row.
The Nominations and Online Voting Periods
Established to give recognition and celebrate the achievements of operators and developers for 2019, the Southern European Gaming Awards welcomed all representatives in the Italian capital at the Radisson Blu Hotel Milan. But the nomination and online voting period started a while back.
The nominations period started on the 15th of July and lasted until the 31st of August. After the nominations were collected, the online voting period begun. It lasted from the 16th of September until the 13th of October.
There were 26 categories for this year’s South European Gaming Awards, out of which 6 were for casino developers:
Online Casino Innovator, Best Slots Provider, Rising Star in Online Casino Technology, Best Mobile Casino Provider, Best Online Casino Provider, and Best Live Casino Provider.
The categories for sports betting providers were 7, for operators 6, for affiliates 3, and there were 4 connected categories, the Best Support for Responsible Gambling, Best Overall Payment Service Provider, Best Testing Laboratory and Best iGaming Service Provider.
The Shortlisted
The shortlisted, the top 5 online gambling service providers in each category, were announced on the 15th of October 2019. NetEnt was not shortlisted for Online Casino Innovator and Rising Star in Online Casino Technology. And, even though it was shortlisted for Best Mobile Casino Provider and Best Slots Provider, it did not win the awards in these categories.
It did, however, win two awards from the casino categories and one from the connected categories. It was crowned Best Live Casino Provider, Best Online Casino Provider and Best Support for Responsible Gambling. Tom Horn Gaming won the Online Casino Innovator and the Best Mobile Casino Provider awards, EGT Interactive the Rising Star in Online Casino Technology, and Worldmatch for Best Slots Provider Award.
The envelope style voting by present delegates was scheduled for the 8th of November, meaning the voting took place on the day of the ceremony. And while from the online voting there were some ties, the envelope style voting concluded the results.
