Ive always enjoyed playing poker with friends, but i want to start playing for cash, but figured i should learn a bit more about it first before wasting my money.

I win loads with play money, but i think because its easy to win with play money it fools most people into putting some real cash there thinking it would be just as easy. So anyways back to the point, does anybody have any tips? Anything i should do before playing for money? And any tips that can help you out whilst in a money game?

Thanks

He James, Well I cant give you tips, cuz my poker game suck bigtime.
But if there where good tips then everyone was a winner in poker.

Poker is like art.

You can learn and read over 1000 strategy's, it wont help you.
You have to develop your own..
That's a good and unique poker player. Some of the best players in poker, are still learning new things at each game.

Have you ever played in a pokerfreeroll? No buyinn but chance on cashprizes? If you are good you can make a bankroll out off it.

And you must also know where to play, cuz there are bad ones out there. And you will also not find them at our forum.
Also, we will soon have poker freeroll tourneys for our members. They are lots of fun, and most of them require no deposit's and some of them a little 2 till 5 dollar fee.

There are members here, that are pretty good pokerplayers and played in some of the biggest games. They can sure give you some helpfull awsers and
good tips.

Hey jamie!!

welcome to bonus paradise. We've got quite a few good poker players on here that i'm sure can give you many tips. I've been playing poker online for 8 years or so and i'm still learning so don't expect to become a pro overnight. Believe me i tried it and failed miserably.

There are quite a few things to do and not do to give yourself a shot of winning each and every tournament you play in. Poker will have so many ups and downs it'll drive you absolutely mad.

2 things i know for sure is to NEVER get over excited when you get a good hand, i've seen many times someone who ends up with something great gets to excited over bets and scares everyone out of the hand. Take it easy many online tournaments last for many hours and it takes patient smart play to win them.

NEVER EVER chase after chips you've lost. people will sometimes push all in or chase cards on the next hand or two after they've just lost a big pot to try and win some back. This is a big mistake that almost always turns out bad. I sometimes will sit out a couple of hands to get my composure back when it happens so i don't put myself into that position.

I personally don't play alot of cash games but something i've been taught about those is to not look at your chips as money but just chips. If you looking at them a dollars then you might be more hesitant to play hands you should. Also if your just sitting down at a table sit out a few hands(10 or so) and watch how everyone plays, when they're betting, raising and folding. You should be able to notice who the sharks and fish are.

One more thing watch the chat box, some will talk more when they've got cards or are bluffing which you can find out who does what when the hands comes to a showdown

I can go on for days if you have questions about anything specific just ask and i'll answer the best i can.

#1. Patience. This is a key to all poker anywhere you play. Don't just play any 2 cards wait for good hands.

#2. Know that bad beats will happen, and online it may seem that it happens alot more often then live games, the key is to be able to let it go, and get ready for the next hand.

#3. Bankroll management- Bankroll management is very important and can keep you from going broke when you are having a bad run. So, try to play games within your limits to keep you comfortable with what amounts you are playing. If you are afraid of losing in a game, and know its a "must win" in a game you are playing, then you will not be able to play the kind of poker to allows you to take certain chances and you will not play an effective game of poker.

#4- Know your opponent at the table- This means pay attention to the tendacies of all the players at your table. Know if he is very loose or a tight player, knowing this will give you an advantage later in the game when you may need to make a bluff to get some chips, knowing who you can bluff or steal a pot from is very helpful in winning a game.

These are just a few a tips, and just know, playing experience is the best teacher, but remember to play within your limits and you should do ok. Hope these are helpful,

the 3 of you guys pretty much said all there is to online poker, i think the 3 most important are patience, money management, and study the opposition...i try to do at least 2 of the 3 i have a hard time with patience though,lol....as sometimes i will play a hand i really shouldn't because i want some action, i know its stupid but hey it is what it is,lol

its seems almost everytime i play a hand that i shouldn't or when maybe i should fold my small blind, but call because the pot odds are too hard to fold when all you have to put in is the other half of the blind.

Like the other day, i had K7 offsuit, figured why not call in the small blind position everyone else had folded.
i call, flop comes K A 4 on flop, i pair my K. I bet out like 3x bb just to try and steal the pot, guy calls. i figure he might have me beat so turn comes an 8, and i check, he bets 4x the blind(about 100 chips) i called, and now i think i'll try and out play him on the river, well, i hit my 7 on the river, thinking if he had a K or a pair of Aces' i'm probably good here, i bet out like 400, the guys pushes allin, and i quickly made the call, he had a better 2 pair, A's and 8's.

Now, if i woulda have just folded my k7 from the get go, i wouldn't be out of the tourney sitting on the rail, roflmao

i always find myself in trouble playing mediocre hands when my gut says just fold.
