ok its summertime right? when the bees are buzzing and mosquitos drive you crazy... there are butterflies everywhere and numerous other insects crawling or flying all over the place... right? except they arent... not here anyway... and that leaves me wondering where the heck they all went... its not cold out... its warm and sunny... and there is a heatwave all this next week... but i havent seen an insect in days... not one... anyone else notice the sudden lack of insects or is it just in my neck of the woods? dont get me wrong, im not a fan of the crawly little critters... but it isnt natural... and that is kinda scarey...real creepy... creepier then the bugs im thinking... if anyone has any idea whats going on id really like to know... just so i can quit being spooked

The reason for that is the cities have been spraying like crazy to kill the mosquitos. But its kill these other ones at the same time. The mosquitos carry that virus so there going to spray away to kill them.It almost the same here also.

one word Dear....
PEOPLE....
polluting the air, water & land...
Using insecticide...
taking away the grassy fields to make room
for development...and it's not just insects
it is also amphibians and birds.
You would think that we, as the intellegent
would be SMARTER!
at least that's MY take on it.

Here are lot´s of wasps this year...and they all are happy to attack me!

not insecticides here dog... calgary has a ban... they are also banning pesticides for the garden... we have wasp nest and hornet nests here and there were plenty of them up until the last few weeks... they just up and vanished one day...its just so bizarre... funny how you dont miss something until they are gone... the honeybees around here all died last year... every day we found dead bees... then this year we didnt have any... but the hornets and stuff, no dead ones just gone... vicky you are probably right.... without the huge insect population i have noticed a lack of birds... ususally in the summer i have about a hundred sparrows coming to my feeders... it was really awesome to watch them playing in the yard... this year they are few and far between...*sigh* makes me sad to think they might disappear too come to think of it even by my work i usually see dozens of rabbits running wild... havnt seen one of those in a week...

Where I live we are experiencing extreme drought conditions so many bugs that are normally outside have been turning up inside homes seraching for water. But mosquitoes have not been as bad, I guess due to the lack of water.
